Precision Bezel Installation
While home installation is possible by carefully following the steps below, we strongly recommend having this work carried out by a professional independent watchmaker experienced in bezel assembly. Authorised retailers for any specific watch brand will not undertake this modification.
Bezel Removal Steps:
- Tape around case sides and lugs to protect against scratches.
- Insert the case knife at 7 o’clock on the case side, between bezel and case.
- Use controlled rocking motion to gradually lift the bezel-do not pry or force.
- Once loosened, gently lift off bezel and set aside.
- If dislodged during bezel removal, retain the click plate and all four spring plungers, and reinstall them carefully in their original positions.
Insert Removal & Replacement:
- To remove the original insert, flip the bezel over and use a press tool with a flat nylon die to push the insert out from the underside.
- To install a new insert, align it correctly and press it into the bezel from the topside using the same press and an appropriate die.
- Ensure the die does not contact or stress the insert edge; use only flat or shallow concave dies that match the insert’s shape.
Bezel Installation Steps:
- Lightly grease the new nylon ring and insert into bezel groove.
- Clean all parts; check click springs and plate for wear.
- Reinstall spring plungers and click plate.
- Align bezel with triangle at 12 o’clock. Ensure springs remain upright.
- Use press with flat nylon die to apply slow, even pressure until bezel snaps on.
- Confirm:
- Secure fit (no rocking or gaps)
- Smooth rotation
- Accurate alignment at 12
Important Notes:
- Do not press the bezel on by hand. Always use a proper press.
- Do not lubricate excessively-just a minimal film.
- If you are not a trained technician, we recommend having your bezel installed by a professional watchmaker familiar with Tudor friction-fit systems.
- Any modification to your watch-including bezel replacement—may void the manufacturer’s warranty. Proceed at your own discretion.
